Magy Eskander, MD

Magy Eskander, MD, is an ophthalmologist with Willis Knighton Eye Institute North who has a lifelong connection to Shreveport and Willis Knighton Health.

Born in Luxor, Egypt, Dr. Eskander and her family immigrated to Shreveport in 1996. Her family’s connection to Willis Knighton began when her uncle sponsored their move to the United States, and her father has worked with Willis Knighton since that time. “My entire family members are physicians, and my aunt is an ophthalmologist whom I deeply admire,” she says. “I loved seeing all her equipment at her clinic.” 

Dr. Eskander grew up in Shreveport and earned a degree in biochemistry with a minor in physics at Centenary College. She earned her Medical Doctorate at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas in Houston in 2017.

Today she specializes in cataract surgery and also treats common diseases of the eye, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, dry eyes and ocular surface diseases. 

Caring for patients means more than following a standard treatment plan. She takes the time to understand each patient as an individual and considers their lifestyle when developing a treatment approach — all with the goal of preserving healthy vision for a lifetime.

When she has time off, Dr. Eskander enjoys international traveling, which enables her to learn about different cultures and histories.
